A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies those results. Bay City Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatically Collected Data
Hosting services may create standard server logs, including an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time of access. We review that information in aggregate to operate and improve the service. Cookies or comparable technologies may support basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
Limited data helps operate the service, diagnose problems, understand traffic totals, and improve reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual visitors.
Links and Outside Services
Links may lead to Bay County and Michigan portals, libraries, archives, or third-party search tools. Their own privacy notices control information submitted after leaving this service. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Who Can Receive Data
Providers that host or support the service can process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires it or when otherwise permitted by law.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and ordinary logs are retained only for the operating purposes described here. There are no user accounts, passwords, or visitor profiles maintained by this service.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor sent us information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Michigan’s current consumer-privacy guidance states that Michigan has no comprehensive state consumer privacy law. You may still ask about personal information this service holds by using the Contact page. Because the service retains little information, requests normally involve the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Public records held by Michigan, Bay County, or Bay City offices are outside our control. Michigan Freedom of Information Act requests follow 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231–15.246 when applicable, while vital records are excluded from FOIA under MCL 333.2888. Requests to correct or amend a source record belong with its responsible custodian.
