It links to record sources but does not host government records. It is not affiliated with any Bay City office, Bay County department, Michigan agency, court, library, or records custodian.

The Michigan Freedom of Information Act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231–15.246, controls qualifying records requests to Michigan public bodies; it does not make this private service a records custodian. Vital records are excluded from FOIA under MCL 333.2888 and must be requested from the authorized custodian under the applicable rules.
